Certificate in Civil Court Practice - "This outstanding course provides specialised Scottish Paralegal Training in the work undertaken by a Debt Recovery Paralegal or Civil Court Paralegal, preparing cases, appearing in small claim cases, completing forms and advising clients. Tutor support is provided by the College's experienced lawyers by telephone or email. It is undertaken by distance learning with learning packages forwarded by email. Students are awarded a College Certificate consisting of two SQA Higher National credits: Sheriff Court Civil Procedure (2 credits) -small claim, summary cause and ordinary cause procedure; and Legal Aid in Scotland (1 credit)-completing advice and assistance forms, and the main legal aid forms"
Certificate in Criminal Law Practice - "This outstanding course provides specialised training in the work undertaken by a Criminal Law Paralegal, preparing cases, precognitions, completing forms and advising clients. It is undertaken by distance learning with learning packages forwarded by email. Tutor support is provided by the college's experienced lawyers by telephone or email. Students are awarded a college Certificate consisting of 3 SQA Higher National credits: Scottish Criminal Law: the law of crimes; Scottish Criminal Procedure: summary and solemn criminal procedure; and Legal Aid in Scotland: completing advice and assistance forms, and the main legal aid forms.
The fee for the Certificate in Civil Court Practice course and the Certificate in Criminal Law Practice course is £255 each. Both courses are ILA Scotland registered. Each of the courses last around 6 months with a recommended 3 hours study per week.
