Senior Trust Officer (Contract)

An Immediate opportunity has arisen for a Senior Trust Officer to join this highly regarded financial institution based Edinburgh City Centre.

The above opportunity is a contract role 9 - 12 months with a view to becoming a permanent post. (Commencing SEPTEMBER 2008)

Key areas of responsibilities include:
• Day to day administrative duties relating to Trusts
• To deal promptly and efficiently with a variety of enquiries from beneficiaries/co-trustees/third parties through correspondence, telephone and in person, keeping management and beneficiaries advised at all times of any developments in relation to trusts
• To maintain and develop good working relationships with beneficiaries and co-trustees
• To control the setting up of a new trust in accordance with prescribed procedures
• To deal with all aspects of termination/vesting of trusts.
• To assess income distributions to beneficiaries.
• To provided management with supporting information for meetings, and attend meetings as required.
• To maintain an efficient diary system for forward planning
• To audit and produce annual accounts before submission to beneficiaries and co-trustees
• To instruct investment transactions timeously through the Investment Officer to PMS.
• To observe all regulatory rules impacting on trust related activities, including FSA & AML regulations, Data Protection implications etc.

We are interested to hear from individuals who have gained a minimum of 3 years experience dealing with trust administration. It is essential the successful candidate can demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Possess in-depth knowledge of administration procedures and accounting practice relating to trust administration.
Knowledge of tax legislation in relation to trusts as well as basic knowledge of Scot law in relation to trusts would be a distinct advantage.

Working as part of a team which provided legal support/expertise to one main client;

Duties include:

Liaise directly with client instructions and reporting progress of transaction
Meet with clients on an unsupervised basis
Keep clients fully up to date and fully informed on all aspects of each transaction
Note title deeds for each transaction
Report to client on the results of the title
Carry out research at Register House as and when required
Correspond with other firms of solicitors to include raising observations on title and planning queries and adjusting letter of obligation and states for settlement
Progress each transaction from the initial instruction stage
Arrange client lease or title to be stamped

Senior Executry Manager - Edinburgh -  Unique opportunity for a highly organised, experienced Executry Paralegal to join leading organisation based Edinburgh City Centre.

Key areas of responsibility include management of the Executry team comprising four full time and one part time member of staff.

The Executry team are involved in the administration of deceased estates of varying size and complexity and the Senior Executry Manager has overall responsibility for the management of these cases.

Key areas of responsibility include:

To support the Executry team in the performance of their roles.
To provide technical support and guidance on all aspects of Executry administration including the legal and fiscal implications.
To carry out regular review meetings with individual Executry team members to ensure that cases allocated to them are administered efficiently and to a high standard.
To escalate any Executry related issues impacting on the business to Head of Trustee Services.
To encourage Executry team members to develop their existing knowledge and skills through attendance of seminars, reading of relevant technical material and researching the subject matter.
